The Tenth Amendment

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

This basically means that the States have the power that is not specifically given to the national government or prohibited to the States. This helps with checks and balances so that the national government does not become too large and centralized since the States still retain power. This also does not leave the people helpless to the government since the people retain power as well.

I chose this video because the powers are very meshed since states have given up a lot of their powers since they now rely on federal funding on so many things. If states strengthen their own economy and not rely on federal funding, they will have more sovereignty.

I chose this video to explain a little more on the states' powers and how the national government has grown or is trying to expand.
