The Preamble to the United States Constitution
"WE THE PEOPLE of the United States of America, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America."
The Preamble sets the stage for the foundation of our government and the growth of our nation. The words 'We The People' empower this document by giving it meaning, agreement, and support. 'We The People' is the foundation. This means that the people make this country. The people make the government. We have rights, privileges, and responsibility. It also means that because we live here and are governed here, we agree to the doctrine and basis of the constitution as to how we are governed, how we want to live, and how we expect others to live. 'We The People' created this and agreed to it. It is critical to note that the constitution would mean nothing and would be nothing more than a mere document if it were not for the people who believe in it, agree with it, support it, protect it, and enforce it.
I chose this video because it has a sense of patriotism and emphasizes freedom.
I chose this video just to illustrate a point that a lot of people do not know about what the constitution really entails. This makes it easier for freedoms to be taken away when people are not educated on our own governmental system. Before this class, I admit, I was very ignorant when it came to a lot of the amendments and specifics of the constitution which is supposed to be for my freedoms and my advantage. How could I defend what I didn't even know? I think American government should be taught in schools as an un-biased educational experience. I did not have this class in school until now.
